La Bohème was first performed at the Teatro Regio, Turin, on February 1st, 1896. The first production in Britain was on April 22nd, 1897, by the Carl Rosa Opera Company at the Theatre Royal, Manchester.
Undoubtedly Puccini's finest work, La Bohème expresses every facet of human emotion with its rich and colourful music. It is fresh and beautifully crafted, a hymn to youth which captivates both young and old.
